Kahtan Mahboub

“Poet of the Sun, Exile, and Liberty,” novelist, translator, Kahtan Mahboub was born in Iraq in 1950. He holds a B.A in English and French from The University of Baghdad,1972; M.A. in English and creative writing, from WMU, Kalamazoo, MI, 1978, and a Ph.D. in American Literature and creative writing from IUP, Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation, The Role of the Psychohistorical Heritage on the Behavior and Fate of the Individual in Faulkner’s Writings, was
published in 1983. His compassionate poetry sings for love, freedom, nature, his homeland, and fights for justice and peace. He published several volumes of poetry, a novel, and a biography, in English and Arabic. His poems are translated to many languages. Dr. Kahtan Mahboub has been teaching English, creative writing, and world literature for 45 years, and at Macomb Community College, Michigan, for the last 20 years.
