Caline Nasrallah is a Master’s student at the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University, where her research focuses on language as a feminist tool. She also works as a translator, mostly from Arabic to English, and has an MA in Translation from the École de traducteurs et d’interprètes de Beyrouth (USJ).
Michelle Hartman is Professor of Arabic Literature and Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies, where her research focuses on language, literature, and the politics of translation from Arabic to English. She has published several academic books, as well as a number of literary translations of works by Arab women authors.
Caline and Michelle have one other co-published translation, Nawal Qasim Baidoun’s Memoirs of a Militant: My Years in the Khiam Women’s Prison (Interlink, 2021).
