What is the minimum age requirement to apply for the prize?
The Bait AlGhasham DarArab Prize is open to individuals aged 18 and above.
Is there a specific nationality requirement for applicants?
With the exception of the Omani Publications category, the prize does not impose any nationality restrictions for applicants in the Translation or Author categories. However, the original literary works must be written in Arabic, not translated into it.
Can more than one translator submit a joint entry for the Translation category?
Yes, up to two translators may jointly submit a single entry for the Translation category.
Can multiple works by the same author be submitted in different categories?
No. Each author may submit only one work in a single category out of the three available.
Is it permissible for an applicant to apply for more than one category?
No. Applicants must choose only one category in which to submit their work.
What literary genres are eligible for submission across the prize categories?
The prize accepts submissions in three genres: novels, short story collections, and poetry collections.
Is there a minimum word count requirement for submitted literary works?
Yes, the submitted book must be no fewer than 20,000 words.
Given the presence of the Omani Publications category, may Omani literary works also be submitted to the other two categories?
Yes. In the Translation category, the submission must be made by the translator in accordance with the specified criteria. In the Author category, the submission must be an unpublished literary work. The Omani Publications category is for published works that have not yet been translated. However, it is important to note that neither an author nor any of their works may be submitted to more than one category within the same cycle.
Is there a time restriction regarding the publication date of the original edition of the submitted work?
Yes, and it varies by category:
Author Category: The literary work must be entirely unpublished.
Translation Category: The submitted translation must be unpublished. Moreover, the first edition of the original Arabic work must have been published in or after the year 1970. Works first published prior to that date are not eligible.
Omani Publications Category: The submitted works must have been published within the last five years.

Complete the entry form for the related category and upload soft copies of the required documents (PDF format is preferred).
Once submitted, the applicant will receive confirmation of receipt via email.
Please do not send soft copies of the work to our email unless we request you to
do so.
Applications for the 2026 cycle will be accepted from 24th March 2025 – 31st July
2025.
