Jona Fras works at the University of Edinburgh, where he has taught Arabic since 2013. His academic interests include language use in the media, and he has published on a number of topics including the use of different registers of Arabic on radio stations in Jordan. He has previously published translations of poetry of Arabic authors including Omar Shabanah, Yousef al-Mahmoud, and Sami Muhanna.
